San Diego Paper Box Company Named as Small Business of the Year

On May 26, California Assemblywoman Shirley Horton honored the San Diego Paper Box Company as small business of the year for their contributions to California's economy. State Assembly legislators acknowledged 56 businesses from throughout California at a luncheon in Sacramento held in conjunction with the California Small Business Association.

In making the award Horton stated "Small businesses make vitally important contributions to our community. They create new jobs, improve our economy and provide important services." " It is time for the Legislature to get serious about restoring the California dream and put Californians first."

The 98-year-old San Diego Paper Box company was honored while also being recognized as an example of the harsh realities of running a business in California. Overwhelming workers compensation premiums, high-energy costs, and an anti business state government has caused the loss of many small businesses in California. Noting the Company's philosophy of  "We don't hire people, we adopt them", Horton impressed the attendees with San Diego Paper Box Company's strong commitment to its employees and the community.
